The Women Changing the World Awards presented by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favorite guest, Dr. Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognize women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health, and innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who are leading the way in making the world a better place for us all and inspire other women to answer the call to take action.
About Nisha
Nisha is one of those philanthropic leaders who endlessly aims to help the less fortunate and continually serves remote communities living in perpetual multi-generational poverty.
Nisha’s passion for helping others started in her own home and expanded to other neighborhoods, cities, and even other countries. She started her initiative through an intergenerational program that got nationally recognized for embracing the elderly across the USA. After visiting rural communities in Africa and South Asia and witnessing the dire need for access to necessities she expanded her work globally.
For the past 15 years, Nisha has been managing Our AIM Foundation on a volunteer basis and dedicating countless hours to transforming lives through hope and empowerment. Her world vision is one where all communities have their basic needs met and have access to the resources, training, and infrastructure necessary to improve their quality of life.
She made Education, Health Services including Mental Health, Water & Sanitation, and Hunger Prevention core missions of the foundation across marginalized communities of the USA, Malawi, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Middle Eastern countries.
This work is so important because billions of people are in need. Nisha is a firm believer of when you give, you receive happiness and peace in return. She also believes whatever you do in life should be done with passion, purity of consciousness, and perseverance.
Dr. Tererai Trent’s powerful call to action through these awards aims to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams, and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all.
Nisha encourages individuals in her network to come together by sharing her life motto: “If you are blessed, you must be a blessing to others.
Impact on Society
Nisha is proud of her achievements, for the past 15 years has touched the lives of close to 5,000,000 individuals.
In Malawi, her efforts have centered around the construction and management of a 5-acre solar-powered Holistic Community Center. This unique compound houses a FREE clinic, pharmacy, learning center, orphanage center, women empowerment center, playground, and sports complex that serves 126 remote villages.
In 2022 she was awarded the most prestigious Global Water Award from the International Water Association for her remarkable contribution toward the scarcity of water globally and her leadership and innovative solution in this sector.
She is committed to continuing to make an impact through her work and her vision for the future is all communities must have their basic needs met and have access to the resources, training, and infrastructure necessary to improve their quality of life.
