The International Water Association (IWA) announced Nisha Mandani the CEO/Founder of Our AIM Foundation as the winner of the IWA Global Water Award 2022. This award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of water management. IWA’s Global Water Award shines a light on truly outstanding contributions to the water profession and to the world at large. A diverse judging panel evaluated extremely impressive contributions received from around the world.
In her acceptance speech, Nisha emphasized the importance of community-led initiatives and the need for sustainable development practices. She stated, “Access to clean water is a basic human right, and it is our responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to it. We must work together to implement sustainable solutions that will benefit the present and future generations.”
About Our AIM Foundation
Nisha is a well-known philanthropist and entrepreneur. She started the nonprofit Our AIM Foundation in 2008 in Florida through an intergenerational program. After visiting rural communities in Africa and South Asia and witnessing the dire need for access to clean water the foundation expanded its work globally. Since its inception, Our AIM has worked in various countries including the USA, Malawi, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Middle Eastern countries. The organization has implemented various projects that focus on providing access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and education on hygiene practices. Nisha has led the organization to partner with local communities, governments, and non-profits to ensure the sustainability of these projects.
Nisha’s commitment to sustainable development and community-led initiatives has led to the implementation of various water and sanitation projects. For example, Our AIM project in rural Malawi and Pakistan has benefitted close to a million people. The project focused on building borewells that collect water from groundwater and supply it to community households.

The World Health Organization reports that over 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and around 4.2 billion people lack access to basic sanitation facilities. The work Our AIM Foundation does toward addressing this global issue has inspired many and has led to lasting sustainable solutions.
